Yulia Timoshenko claims that the coalition agreement of forces assigned her the post of the premier
Yulia Timoshenko claims that the coalition agreement of forces, which supported Ukrainian President Viktor Yuschenko at the elections, assigned her the post of the premier. However, the newly elected president stated recently that there is impossibility that the new premier could be a businessman and a head of a political party at the same time, thus violating the agreement. "I'm the leader of the Batkivschina political party, which includes over 200,000 people. I cannot just leave them. There will always be a formal reason to deny me the post of the premier. If the name of the officials change, but the essence of the administrative ruling remains, we will once again become an opposition," Yulia Timoshenko said in her interview with Izvestia newspaper. Ms. Timoshenko is also certain that if her candidacy is proposed to Parliament, legislators will certainly support her. In this case, she will be ready to go to Moscow as premier and shake hands with the Russian authorities. If appointed, premier Ms. Timoshenko plans to do everything possible in order to improve the relations between Ukraine and Moscow. "Russia and Ukraine actively cooperate in the sphere of fuel and energy and we have good possibilities to develop trade. Russia understood that Ukraine itself elects presidents and appoints premiers. I want all differences between Kiev and Moscow to be relieved," Ms. Timoshenko said. At the same time she mentioned that it's useless to make her a hostage of the Russian-Ukrainian relations. "The criminal cases initiated against me in Ukraine proved to be groundless. Investigators have nothing against me. Recently, however, I got to know that the Ukrainian Prosecutor General's office once again started to gather information against me," Ms. Timoshenko added.
