Russian and French Foreign and Defense Ministers talks about terror
Russian and French Foreign and Defense Ministers discussed in detail issues concerning the cooperation in the sphere of security. This was disclosed by Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov at the press-conference on Friday following the session of the Russo-French Council of cooperation on the security issues. "We agreed to report on the results of the negotiations to Russian and French Presidents, since we proceed from the fact that their agreements make up the agenda of our work," the Russian Foreign Minister said. French Foreign Minister Michel Barnier in his turn noted that the discussion of these issues proves that we worked in the constructive way. He called this meeting as the unique since four ministers participated in it. Mr. Barnier noted that the sides "try to find means so that Russia can join the European policy in the sphere of security and defense." Russia and France coordinated all contacts concerning the Iranian nuclear program and the sides "work in this direction." "Moreover, we are ready to strengthen our bilateral cooperation in the sphere of fight against terrorism within the framework of various organizations. However, I believe that first of all we must eliminate the roots of terrorism," Mr. Barnier concluded. The French Foreign Minister was satisfied that the sides discussed the issues concerning the security and stability in an open and friendly manner. "I'm glad that the Presidents of our countries attach great importance to these issues," he has said. "We are satisfied with the quality of our relations," Mr. Barnier concluded.
