President Vladimir Putin tells the prosecutor's office to increase its involvement in law-making.
"The prosecutor's office must declare its own position on all draft laws against crime, to ensure national security and protection of citizen rights", the president told the Prosecutor General's Office at a collegium sitting. Overall, you must continue development of the legislative base on the federal and regional levels. He cited the example of monitoring operation of the Code of Criminal Procedure, adopted in 2001. "Thanks to joint effort by several departments, three federal laws have been prepared and adopted to wipe out blank spots, internal contradictions in and double interpretation of clauses of the code", Mr. Putin noted. He also thinks it necessary to pave the ground for sealing and promoting the professional level of newcomer prosecutors. "Today almost a half of the corps of prosecutors is young people below 30 years of age. It is crucial to pave the ground for their retaining their posts and professional growth", the president told the collegium at the expanded sitting on Friday. The head of state emphasized: "Young prosecutors have what example to follow. In all times the best representatives of the prosecutor's office were distinguished by impartiality and objectivity, honest service to Law and Duty". "I'm sure that these principles will remain as the true reference point for the present and future generators of prosecutors", the Russian head of state said.
