The criminal case of Yulia Timoshenko will be investigated according to the Russian law
The criminal case of Yulia Timoshenko will be investigated according to the Russian law, said Vladimir Ustinov, Russia's Prosecutor General. He added that the court would decide on Ms. Timoshenko's possible arrest. "The Yulia Timoshenko case does not exist, but there is a case involving Yulia Timoshenko," stressed Mr. Ustinov. According to the main military prosecutor's office of Russia, Ms. Timoshenko is facing charges of bribing Russian officials. In particular, Alexander Savenkov, Russia's chief military prosecutor, said that as a director of a private profit-making company, Ms. Timoshenko had given bribes to the officers of the central department of financial resources and foreign economic ties of the Russian Defense Ministry. According to him, she was engaged in bribery to obtain construction materials for higher prices worth $80 million. This week, Yulia Timoshenko has been appointed acting prime minister of Ukraine.
