The Kamov Ka-32A11VS helicopter has passed its trials and been certified by Mexico
The Kamov Ka-32A11VS helicopter has passed its trials and been certified by Mexico. According to Yelizaveta Kazachkova, the spokeswoman for the Kamov company, the certificate will be issued in a ceremony in Mexico Thursday, with Kamov President and General Designer Sergei Mikheyev to accept the certificate from Mexican Communications and Transport Minister Pedro Cerisola y Weber. "The type certificate is a sign of recognition of the machine's technical characteristics despite stiff competition put up by western rivals, for whom Russian hi-tech expansion to other countries is very unwelcome," Mr. Mikheyev. According to Mr. Kamov's Mexican partner, Aeroservicios KA Mexicanos General Director Jose Luiz Garza Alvarez, the Ka-32A11VS has been issued a Mexican certificate for the specific interest in the machine shown by certain South American national companies. "The Ka-32 will fill in the existing niche in the Mexican aircraft market, and the Mexican government's support will clear many hurdles between Kamov's helicopters and Mexican customers," Mr. Garza Alvarez stressed. South Korea operates the largest Ka-32 fleet numbering about 40. The aircraft is gaining a higher profile in Europe as well, having earned certificates in Switzerland and Spain. The machine is used for logging in Canada, precision assembly and construction in Switzerland and Germany, fire fighting in Spain, Portugal and Greece, Crete and police and forestry operations in South Korea.
