Deutsche Bank is not negotiating the purchase of a stake in Vneshtorgbank, Alexis Rodzianko, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Deutsche Bank office in Russia, told journalists on Tuesday. "No talks on this issue are being held now," he said. In November 2004 mass media reported that Deutsche Bank was going to acquire a 10% share in Vneshtorgbank and that talks were underway. At the same time, Mr. Rodzianko pointed out that Deutsche Bank and Vneshtorgbank are cooperating on a wide range of issues. "We have very close relations and conduct a wide range of transactions. But dealing with Vneshtorgbank shares is currently out of the question," the official said. Speaking on the prospects of buying the Russian KMB bank (small business crediting) Mr. Rodzianko said that Deutsche Bank is at the point of entering the Russian retail market. He also refrained from answering whether Deutsche Bank was going to raise its share in United Financial Group (UFG). He reminded that last year Deutsche Bank bought 40% of the group's share. "Raising the share is one of the options, and this possibility persists," Mr. Rodzianko noted
