Moscow hopes that Russian companies in Kiev will operate under the same conditions as other countries do
Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said it, speaking on Monday in Kiev at the Ukrainian Investment Forum, "From Revolution to Investment Possibilities." He pointed out that the Intergovernmental Commission for Russian-Ukrainian Economic Cooperation is expected to meet in a couple of months. "In preparing the documents, it is necessary to take into consideration the interests of business. This concerns the work over a common economic space, continuation of the negotiations with the WTO and relations with the European Union with which both Russia and Ukraine strive to create a common economic space," Mr. Lavrov said. He noted that Russia highly rates Ukrainian interest in developing investment cooperation. According to Mr. Lavrov, the relations between the two countries are growing closer. "The Russian government, just as Ukrainian President Viktor Yushchenko, confidently says that all the [necessary] conditions will be created for the contacts between business elites."
