Charges will be brought shortly against two Chechens suspected of a part in murdering famous reporter Paul Khlebnikov
Charges will be brought shortly against two Chechens suspected of a part in murdering famous reporter Paul Khlebnikov, the public relations department of the Russian Prosecutor General's Office told RIA Novosti. "Charges against them will be brought in the law stipulated procedure shortly," said the department. Muslim Ibragimov and Vagid Agayev, the Chechens suspected of a part in murdering the journalist, were extradited by Belarus late yesterday, recalled the Prosecutor General's Office. The suspects "were handed out to Russian FSB officials in line with an earlier agreement," Belarussian State Security Committee officers told RIA Novosti on Tuesday. The Russian security officers arrived in Minsk on Monday to settle extradition-related formalities. The Belarussian security officers recalled that the suspects had been detained in Minsk on November 17, 2004 by police that had checked out on Russian security bodies' information. Paul Khlebnikov, the chief editor of the Forbes Russian edition, was murdered in Moscow on July 9, 2004. Mr. Khlebnikov was a U.S. national and lived in New York. He worked at the Forbes since 1989.
