A large international forum aiming to aid the world's poorest countries is to open on Monday in France
Talking to RIA Novosti, officials at the French Economics and Finance Ministry, which co-sponsors the forum, noted that the conference would involve economics and finance ministers from 23 donor countries, representatives of about ten countries (that can provide aid in the years to come), as well as delegates from more than 60 developing countries that receive international aid. Representatives of major international financial and humanitarian organizations, including the World Bank and the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), are also expected to attend the Paris forum. This forum is expected to become an important stage of accomplishing various tasks (that had been set by the UN Millennium Summit in 2000), Jean-Claude Fore, chairman of the forum's organizing committee, noted. Forum delegates are to examine various options making it possible to more effectively aid the world's poorest countries. Among other things, this can be accomplished by scaling down their debt burden
