The delegation of the Air Force of Brazil visited Russian space center Baikonur
The delegation of the Air Force of Brazil, headed by director of the foreign relations department of the Ministry of Defense Mayor Brigadier Carlos Augusto Leal Velloso visited Russian space center Baikonur which is situated on Kazakhstan's territory, RIA Novosti was told in Roskosmos on Wednesday. "We arrived at Baikonur at the invitation of Russia's Federal Space Agency. Our countries intend to develop cooperation in the space sphere for developing a Brazilian booster rocket. We arrived at Baikonur to get a better idea of the Russian space center and the experience of operating space infrastructure," Carlos Augusto Leal Velloso noted. The visitors saw the main facilities of Baikonur, talked to the heads of the space center's units, and attended the launching of the Progress M-52 cargo transport space ship. The Brazilian rocket specialists showed interest in the system of organizing tests of the rocket-space hardware on Baikonur, preparing and carrying out launches, and the methods to keep space infrastructure ready for use. The top officials of Brazil's space sector spoke highly of the work of the space center's specialists. Baikonur was founded in 1955. The world's first artificial satellite of Earth was launched precisely from it in 1957, and the world's first cosmonaut Yuri Gagarin - in 1961
