Russian Figure-Skating Federation President Valentin Piseyev thinks Russian skater Irina Slutskaya
Russian Figure-Skating Federation President Valentin Piseyev thinks Russian skater Irina Slutskaya is the heroine of the world championship held in Moscow last week. "I think that there was a struggle in all the events, but the performance that amazed me most was Slutskaya's." Slutskaya won the gold medal in women's singles. After she skated her free program, spectators gave her a standing ovation. "It turned out according to the draw that Irina (Slutskaya) would be the last to perform. And she confidently finished with a strong period at the end of the final performance," Piseyev said. Before the judges' marks were announced there was no doubt that Slutskaya had grabbed the world championship's gold again, he said. "Ira is the heroine of this championship," Piseyev said.
