A documentary German film entitled Siege will be shown in Saint Petersburg tomorrow
A documentary German film entitled Siege will be shown in Saint Petersburg tomorrow. The film will be shown at the Mayakovsky library to mark the 60th anniversary of the end of the Leningrad siege. The organizers say that the film, which was created in 1991 by Thomas Kufus, tells about the crime that was perpetrated by the German regime during the Second World War. The film contains video footage that has never been seen before and interviews with people who survived the siege. The creators of the film tried to make the film as objective as possible. Tomorrow the Goethe Institute will also announce the results of a competition for the best project to remember the siege. The competition has involved all 11th year classes in Saint Petersburg schools that teach German. The winners will travel to Hamburg to show their project to German schoolchildren. The project is designed as a reminder that the current generation of young people is the last that will have the opportunity to hear of the siege from living survivors.
