Pope John Paul sent a message of support to Monaco's Prince Rainier on Saturday
Pope John Paul, himself battling fragile health, sent a message of support to Monaco's Prince Rainier on Saturday but doctors said they were "extremely cautious" about the ailing monarch's chances of survival. The 81-year-old Rainier, widower of Hollywood film star Grace Kelly, has a lung infection complicated by cardiac and kidney problems. He is in intensive care at a hospital in the Mediterranean principality his family has ruled for 700 years, informs Washington Post. The health of Europe's longest-reigning monarch, Prince Rainier of Monaco, has stabilised while citizens pray for him at an Easter mass in the tiny Mediterranean principality. Rainier is in intensive care in a Monaco hospital where he was taken suffering from a lung infection, complicated by cardiac and kidney problems. A health bulletin issued by his palace on Sunday said the prince was conscious though under sedation, while the deterioration of his vital functions had been halted, tells Reuters
