The Khamovniki district court will announce its decision on the claim to change the showing time of the Simpsons cartoon series
On Thursday, the Khamovniki district court will announce its decision on the claim to change the showing time of the Simpsons cartoon series, stated lawyer Igor Smykov, who believes that he suffered moral damages as a result of watching the Simpsons series. In his opinion, "these cartoon series promote violence, cruelty, drugs and homosexualism." In his claim, the lawyer asks the court to order one of TV channels showing the series to move the showing time for later hours, "when children are not watching TV." "I ask the court to order the defendants to introduce a mandatory "Adult Only" coding for the series in order to indicate that the cartoon is not meant for children," Smykov stressed. In addition, the lawyer demanded a compensation for moral damages in the amount exceeding $10,000. The case has been in the court for three years. A number of expert examinations have been conducted. The lawyer pointed out that the Federal Anti-Drug Service scheduled the announcement of the results of its examination of the series on the subject of drug-addiction propaganda for March 31. Some State Duma deputies also believe that the Simpsons and the Griffins "plant the seeds of conflict between children and their parents." Deputy Yelena Afanasyeva announced earlier that the State Duma recommended the Russian Ministry of Culture and Mass Communications to check out certain cartoons shown on Russian TV channels
