Ukrainian President Viktor Yushchenko will mark Victory Day in Kiev
"Naturally, I shall be in Ukraine. May 9 is the day when we commemorate the feat of our veterans," Yushchenko told journalists. According to the head of state, he will not be able to arrive in Moscow even for a short time because of the protocol of the celebrations. "As far as I know, all events will be held in Moscow from 10 a.m. till 2 p.m. The celebrations in Kiev will be also held at this time. I should pay tribute to the people who were fighting against the greatest evil," the Ukrainian leader noted. Yushchenko will not arrive in Moscow on Victory Day but will come to the Russian capital on May 8 when the surrender of Nazi Germany is marked across the globe. Viktor Yushchenko intends to lay a big table for WWII veterans on Kiev's central street Kreshchatik on Victory Day. Both veterans of the Soviet Army and the Ukrainian Insurgent Army (UPA) are invited to these celebrations, he noted. The president wants to promote dialogue between these groups of veterans. "Many generations suffered from these problem and I hope it will be finally solved in our society, now not to pass as a heritage to new generations" he stressed.
