A German reporter is shooting a documentary about the Baikal-Amur Mainline in Yakutia
As was reported by a spokesman for the Neryungri District of Yakutia on Wednesday, Wolfgang Mertin used to work for East Germany's TV office in Moscow. His knowledge of the BAM construction is first-hand, given that he came here on business several times, was present during the link-up of the Nagorninsky tunnel as an honorary guest and rode a train as an honorary passenger on a leg of the Mainline during construction. According to Wolfgang Mertin, BAM builders are a living legend to him, rather than just construction workers. Therefore, with his 30 films about Russia, his new work is conceived as a non-politicized story of yesterday's and today's BAM builders, the railroad serving the region and how it benefited Yakutia. South Yakutia, its development, people who work here, the Evenks, whose ancient land hosts the territorial production complex, will be the most interesting event of the film, according to the film director.
