Russian President Vladimir Putin will discuss with the Israeli leadership a possibility of simplifying the visa regime
Russian President Vladimir Putin will discuss with the Israeli leadership a possibility of simplifying the visa regime between the two countries, his aide Sergei Prikhodko told journalists. "We are interested in simplifying the procedure of Russian citizens' trips to Israel and Israeli citizens' trips to Russia," he said. "We could follow the same path with Israel that we chose with Germany, Italy and France," he added. "The prospect is to achieve a visa-free exchange, which is of pragmatic importance, because many relatives and people who permanently reside in Israel come to Russia," Mr. Prikhodko said. "Although Israel pays increased attention to security issues, we could find points of contacton the problem," he said. When speaking about trade and economic cooperation, the President's aide pointed out that in the last three years it had almost doubled, exceeding $1.5 billion. The main items of Russia's exports to Israel are precious stones (50% of the exports) and oil and petrochemicals (40%), he said.
