About 58% of Russians believe that Soviet dictator Joseph Stalin made an important contribution to Victory over Nazi Germany
This opinion is shared by people over 55 (68%), villagers (65%) and supporters of the Communist Party (85%). Only 18% of the polled share the opposite opinion that Stalin's role in Victory was insignificant (mainly residents of big cities and people with higher education). About 40% of the respondents positively assess Stalin's activities during the war (64% of KPRF supporters, 50% of people over 55 and 46% of people with primary education) while 31% give both positive and negative assessments (37% of people trusting President Vladimir Putin and 37% of well-to-do people). Only 11% of the polled are negative about it (18% of people with higher education). These are the results of a poll of 600 Muscovites and 1,500 Russians conducted by the All-Russia Public Opinion Research Center in 100 settlements of 44 regions, territories and republics of the Russian Federation. The statistic error does not exceed 3.6%
