British Prime Minister Tony Blair will visit Russia on July 6-8
British Prime Minister Tony Blair will visit Russia ahead of the G-8 summit due to take place Gleneagles Hotel in Scotland on July 6-8, an official of the British Prime Minister Office told Itar-Tass on Monday. The exact date of Blair’s visit to Russia will be specified within one or two weeks, the official said. Russian President Vladimir Putin had a telephone conversation with Blair on May 6. “During the conversation, Putin and Blair discussed an agenda of their contacts ahead of the G-8 summit to be held in Scotland in July,” the Russian president’s press service reported. Putin congratulated Blair on his birthday and the Labour Party victory in the parliamentary elections. The British prime minister thanked the Russian president and regretted that his tense schedule did not allow him to take part in the VE Day celebrations devoted to the 60th anniversary.
