Gazprom has resumed its gas supply to Belarus and has started transporting gas across Belarussian territory once more
Gazprom has resumed its gas supply to Belarus and has started transporting gas across Belarussian territory once more. According to the Gazprom press office, gas will be supplied to Belarus on the basis of an agreement that was reached today between Trans Nafta and Beltransgaz. 'The contract stipulates that we must supply 640 million cubic metres of gas to Ukraine. This is enough to last Belarus 10 days,' a Gazprom spokesman said. 'An agreement to transport Russian gas across Belarussian territory has still not been reached.' As mentioned earlier, the original contract to supply gas to Belarus was signed between Beltransgaz and Trans Nafta on February 12. This contract was for 360 million cubic metres of gas but it became void yesterday and, according to Gazprom, Belarus began taking Russian gas that was being transported across Belarus to other countries. On February 18 Gazprom stopped sending gas to Belarus and stopped transporting gas across Belarus to other countries.
