By the end of 2005, the Russian military transport aviation will take part in three international exercises, Lieutenant General Viktor Denisov, commander of the 61st Air Army said at a press conference. According to the general, a Russian-Chinese exercise is set for August, a Russian-Uzbek one for September (in Uzbekistan), and a Russian-Indian exercise in October. "All of them involve the landing of airborne units," Denisov said. A group of officers from the General Staff and the 61st Army will fly to Vladivostok on June 3 to discuss the forthcoming Russia-China exercise. Some 11 to 14 Il-76 planes are to take part in the exercise, Denisov said. "The military transport aviation will deliver equipment and paratroopers and equipment and servicemen of the Pacific Fleet to China," the commander said. Five to seven transport planes will participate in the other exercises.
