Lights are down in over 100 towns and villages of the Volga region because of the Thursday hurricane
There is no electricity supply to 70 towns and villages in the Mordovia, Mordovenergo press secretary Sergei Kozlovsky told Itar-Tass. The eastern part of Mordovia suffered the largest damage. Twenty-two of 50 power lines were damaged and disconnected, he said. Seven teams are repairing the damage, and the works may be over on Friday night. More than 350 electricity sub-stations are defunct in the Penza region, and more than ten towns and villages have no electricity supply. The roads are blocked with broken trees, and municipal services and servicemen are clearing the debris. There are 25-30 towns and villages without electricity supplies in the Saratov region.
