Russia's Pushkin day is widely marked here on Monday
The programme for the festival provides for the opening of exhibitions and the presentation of new publications of Pushkin's works. Cultural figures and scholars, who engage in popularising the creative legacy of the great Russian poet, will address the 7th Moscow Pushkin Assembly. A ceremonial meeting marking the 206th anniversary of the poet's birth will take place in Pushkin Square. Leading officials of the Moscow city committee for culture, the Russian Ministry of Culture and Mass Communications, Yevgeny Bogatyryov, Director of the A.S.Pushkin State Museum of Fine Arts, and Boris Pushkin, a descendant of the great poet, will attend the meeting. A ceremony to lay flowers at the Pushkin Monument is also to take place in Pushkin Square. The Moscow Youth Orchestra, conducted by Honoured Art Worker of Russia Valery Vorona will give a performance near the monument
