An annual business summit meeting of the Russo-British Chamber of Commerce (RBCC) is to be opened in a ceremony in London on Wednesday. According to the summit's steering committee, a champaign reception for the sponsors, participants and guests of the business summit is slated for Wednesday night at Tower Bridge in downtown London. Over 200 dignitaries have been invited to attend, with RBCC President Tim Eggar and the Chamber's patron, His Royal Highness Prince Michael of Kent, to receive the guests. The main events of the forum are planned for Thursday June 9. Plenary sessions and subject-matter sections are to meet on that day. Head of Vneshtorgbank Andrei Kostin, EBRD Business Group Director for Russia Hubert Pandza, Transneft's President Semyon Vainstok and AFK Sistema's Chairman of the Board Yevgeny Novitsky are among the speakers at the plenary session. The participants in the business summit meeting are to hold discussions in three sections focused on three subjects - Russian Northwest Development, Risks in Russia and Direct Foreign Investment Review. "Following the establishment of our St. Petersburg office last year and the successful launch of the trade mission in Murmansk, we decided to set up this section where Murmansk Region Governor Yuri Yevdokimov is to speak on the opportunities offered by his region, along with representatives of several companies," a spokesperson for the summit's organizers said. "Risks in Russia have been selected as a special topic for the 2005 meeting in response to requests from UK companies that would like to gain a foothold in Russia for the first time.. The seminar is aimed at positioning Russia as a high-risk investment country while trying to look into how the risks can be minimized," the spokesperson said. The meeting will enable the companies to swap their experiences and knowledge of the investment climate in Russia and outline the opportunities for further development, the organizers concluded
