Vladimir Putin expects to discuss various aspects of Russia-India interaction in the international arena with Sonia Gandhi
Russian President Vladimir Putin expects to discuss various aspects of Russia-India interaction in the international arena with Sonia Gandhi, leader of the Indian National Congress party, a Kremlin administration official has announced, pointing out that "Our two countries' approaches to many problems of current concern are close or identical". "The concurrence of strategic interests determines the mutual adherence of Moscow and New Delhi to the principles of a just multi-polar world order with the central role of the United Nations, and collective counteraction to contemporary challenges and threats," the Kremlin official pointed out. The expert mentioned the fight against international terrorism as one of common tasks. "Moscow is grateful to India for its support for Russia-suggested International Convention for the Suppression of Acts of Nuclear Terrorism. The Convention was adopted by the United Nations in April," the Kremlin administration official said. "The Russian side renders every kind of support at the UN for India-sponsored draft Comprehensive Convention Against International Terrorism," he added. When speaking of cooperation with New Delhi in the world arena, the presidential administration official recalled the talks held by the Foreign Ministers of Russia and India at an informal meeting in Vladivostok on June 2 in the Russia-India-China format, referring to those talks as "successful and useful". During those contacts, the sides declared in favour of democratisation of international relations and a just world order on the basis of the norms of international law, equality and mutual respect, and stated an intention to cooperate in the three-sided format in the fight against new threats and challenges
