The number of persons who fell ill with hepatitis A in the Tver region has reached 616, including 164 children, first deputy head of the Tver region healthcare department Karina Konyukhova told Itar-Tass on Thursday. She said the data are reported as of 09:00 a.m., Moscow time. According to the official, 18 people got the disease over the past day, including eight children. Twelve people were hospitalised in Rzhev and the Rzhev district, including five children. The number of hospitalised in the Zubtsov district is three adults and two children, in the Oleninsky district – three people, including one child. According to Konyukhova, the infection is subsiding. She said, “We have enough resources to localise it further.” Viral hepatitis A is a dangerous intestinal disease that can be contracted by people at any age. Sources in the regional administration told Itar-Tass that governor Dmitry Zelenin is actively attracting regional resources. “Over 1.5 million roubles have already been allocated for vaccination, disinfectants and medicines. Ten highly qualified professional doctors and brigades of paramedical personnel from Tver are working in Rzhev,” the administration sources said
