The Russian government voted for the initial approval of the 2006 draft budget
The Russian government voted for the initial approval of the 2006 draft budget and the draft financial plan for 2006-2008 at its meeting on Thursday. According to the draft, the federal budget surplus is to amount to 500 billion rubles ($17.48 billion) in 2006, 314 billion rubles ($10.98 billion) in 2007 and 350 billion rubles ($12.24 billion) in 2008. The Stabilization Fund is to have 1.7 trillion rubles ($59.44 billion) by the end of 2006, about 2 trillion rubles ($69.93 billion) by the end of 2007, and may reach 2.3 trillion rubles ($80.42 billion) by the end of 2008. According to the draft financial plan, federal budget revenues will amount to 4.4 trillion rubles ($153.85 billion or 19% of GDP forecast) in 2006, 4.6 trillion rubles ($160.84 billion or 17.3% of GDP) in 2007, and 5.2 trillion rubles ($181.82 billion, or 17.6% of GDP) in 2008. According to the finance ministry, federal expenditures will amount to 3.9 trillion rubles ($136.36 billion) in 2006, 4.2 trillion rubles ($146.85 billion) in 2007, and 4.9 trillion rubles ($171.33 billion) in 2008. The draft financial plan stipulates appropriations for the Investment Fund, which should amount to 69.7 billion rubles ($2.44 billion) in 2006, 72.9 billion rubles ($2.55 billion, or ) in 2007, and 73.2 billion rubles ($2.56 billion,) in 2008
