The Ford Motors car manufacturer intends to step up production at the Russian Ford Vsevolzhsk assembly plant, seeking to manufacture up to 60,000 vehicles a year, the president of the Ford of Europe said on Thursday. According to John Fleming, production will be increased already in 2006. Investments will make up 30 million dollars. This year, Ford Vsevolzhsk will assemble 32,000 Ford Focus vehicles, including 224,000 cars of the Ford Focus-2 make. The production of Ford Focus-2 was launched in May. Fleming also said there are no plans at the moment to expand the lineup of Ford Vsevolzhsk, which assembles only the Ford Focus make. He stressed that the company wants to concentrate on the production of Ford Focus-2. The vice president of Ford’s Russian office, Sergei Bogdanov, said the company has 14,100 preliminary applications for that make. All in all, Ford expects to sell 60,000 cars of all makes in Russia this year.
