Russia and Iran have overcome the delay in building the Bushehr nuclear power plant
Russia and Iran have overcome the delay in building the Bushehr nuclear power plant, head of the Russian Atomic Energy Agency Alexander Rumyantsev said. Rumyantsev told journalists on Wednesday, “Iran and we overcome the delay in building the Bushehr nuclear power plant. The construction was delayed for objective reasons. We consider a possibility of starting the first nuclear reactor next year.” “Iran asks us to build additional seven reactors,” he said. Answering a question if Russian specialists take part in their construction, Rumyantsev stressed, “There are a lot of issues in this aspect.” Earlier, Rosatom reported that Russia would take part in tenders for the construction of new nuclear reactors in Iran. Rumyantsev recalled that Russia and Iran reached an agreement on the return of spent nuclear fuel from the nuclear power plant in Bushehr. “We need this law to promote Russian nuclear technologies on the international market,” he said. “Earlier, we’re told whether fuel was returned we couldn’t get access to the market,” Rumyantsev emphasised
