Forest fires are raging in the Khabarovsk and Primorye territories and Yakutia in Russia's Far East
Nine fires covering some 8,000 hectares are raging in the Khabarovsk territory. Two of them have hit specially protected areas. The ministry said six fires had been localized and one put out, adding that 361 firefighters and 56 vehicles were involved. Ten fires covering 761.5 hectares are burning in Primorye Territory. Three fires were put out and five localized yesterday, the ministry said, in an effort involving 151 firefighters and 21 vehicles. The ministry said that 11 major fires covering 583 hectares were blazing in Yakutia. Ten vehicles including two Mi-8 helicopters and an An-2 aircraft and 191 firefighters are involved in dealing with them.
