Russia could complete bilateral WTO negotiations with two or three more countries this week
Russia could complete bilateral WTO negotiations with two or three more countries this week, the Russian Ministry of Economic Development and Trade said Thursday. "In the coming days, Russia could conclude negotiations with two or three WTO member states," Maksim Medvedkov, Russia's chief WTO negotiator, was quoted by the ministry as saying. Russia is holding negotiations this week in Geneva with about 15 countries on the access of goods and services on the Russian market. In particular, negotiations with the delegations from the United States, Argentina, Brazil and Peru have been scheduled, the ministry's spokesman said. "This week we hope to make substantial progress in harmonizing our positions with our trade partners," Medvedkov said. The Russian government will also continue discussing the issue of WTO accession inside the country throughout the summer and fall of this year. Regional conferences on WTO accession are being held in Russian cities until the end of summer.
