President Vladimir Putin has approved the lineup of the organization committee to prepare and provide for Russia's presidency in the G8 in 2006, the Kremlin announced on its Web site. The committee will be chaired by Presidential Aide Sergei Prikhodko and his deputies Vladimir Kozhin, the Kremlin property chief, Yevgeny Murov, the director of the Federal Guard Service, and Presidential Aide Igor Shuvalov, Putin's sherpa (Putin's representative at G8 meetings). Other members of the committee include presidential administration officials, heads of various ministries and departments, and St. Petersburg Governor Valentina Matvienko. The president also ordered the set up of an expert council in the organization committee, to be chaired by President of the Center for Strategic Research Elvira Nabiullina. The next G8 summit will be held in St. Petersburg in 2006, Putin told reporters following the G8 summit in Scotland on July 8. He said Russia's presidency would focus on energy security and education. The Scotland summit closed stating that the G8 would continue consolidating and expanding anti-terrorist cooperation and would file a report on its results at the St. Petersburg summit.
