Vladimir Putin:"China is a country that had long-standing friendship with Russia"
President Vladimir Putin said Tuesday the Russian government viewed China as a country that had long-standing friendship with Russia and a huge volume of mutual interests. As he received a newly appointed Russian ambassador to China, Sergei Razov, Putin said: “The signing of a major treaty in 2001 and settling of border issues laid a solid foundation for long-term historic prospects, and that’s not an overstatement.” He said it would be quite reasonable for the new ambassador to give focus to economic relations, in the first place. “Our trade is developing well enough, but the real prospects are much broader and we have many spare reserves yet,” Putin indicated. “I mean the energy sector, in the first place, including the power Industry, supplies of resources to third countries and, of course, projects for Russian energy companies on China’s territory,” he said. “Also, I mean supplies of manufactured products from Russia to China and from China to Russia and the promotion of large-scale projects that might be the drive engines of our bilateral trade,” Putin said. Sergei Razov was appointed Russia’s ambassador to China in June
