The International Space Station cannot be fully built as it was originally designed
The International Space Station cannot be fully built as it was originally designed, Anatoly Perminov, head of the Russian Federal Space Agency (Roskosmos), told journalists Wednesday. Perminov said only two of the three modules - the lab and power ones - would be launched. He added that Roskosmos and NASA would continue cooperation after American space shuttles stop their flights in 2010. The European countries that comprise the European Space Agency will join in the ISS construction. Perminov said the new Russian-piloted spacecraft Kliper would not be able to replace space shuttles. He said the Kliper would not become an alternative to shuttles either in terms of astronauts onboard or cargo volume, adding that Russia would not be able to stop using shuttles. Perminov said visitors would be able to see a full-size model of the Kliper at the MAKS airspace show in Zhukovsky, Moscow region
