The government will allocate 340 billion rubles for federal target programs in 2006 or 27% more than this year
The government will allocate 340 billion rubles (about $12 billion) for federal target programs in 2006 or 27% more than this year, the prime minister said at a government session Thursday. Mikhail Fradkov said the federal investment program would receive over 300 billion rubles (about $10.5 billion), which is $2.8 billion up on this year's figure. "These figures indicate the government's intention to make active use of budget funds to stimulate economic growth," Fradkov said. He added the government would also attract private funds through state-private partnerships. According to the prime minister, in 2006 federal target funds will be spent to support education, health care and judicial reforms, create a market of affordable housing, modernize the agro-business, build and renovate large transport facilities, and finance some technological programs.
