The Friendship Train, travelling across Russia, visits Birobidzhan
The Friendship Train, travelling across Russia, arrived on Thursday in Birobidzhan. The Chechen delegation on the train is led by Chechen Prime Minister Sergei Abramov. At a meeting with the government of the Jewish Autonomous Region, the parties signed an agreement in cooperation between the two Russian regions in economy, culture as well as in the youth sphere. The Jewish Autonomous Area can supply North Caucasus with timber, construction materials, graphite, marble and other products. Within the program of a two-day stay in Birobidzhan, Chechen guests will organize an exhibition of children’s painting as well as will invite local residents to the presentation of an album featuring Chechen poetry of the 19th-20th centuries. It consists of 20 ballads and 15 lyric songs translated by renowned Russian poets. The cultural program will end with a joint gala concert. The Chechen delegation on the train, which comprises 68 public figures, athletes, teachers, artists, and officials. "Chechen people are hoping that the train, after running across the whole Russia, will help break negative stereotypes about the republic that formed in the country. Creative processes are underway in Chechnya as elsewhere in Russia; we wish all Russians to know about it," the Chechen prime minister said earlier.
