Manege restoration
Former Culture Minister, head of the Russian Federal Agency for Culture and Cinematography Mikhail Shvydkoi comes out for the federal government's participation in the Manege restoration. "Manege is a monument of federal importance and the federal government's share in its restoration could total 10-15 per cent," Shvydkoi told cultural and media representatives. The Manege roof will be restored according to Bethancourt's old project. It will be made of fire-resistant wood covering without pylons, Moscow Mayor Yuri Luzhkov told journalists on Friday. "Manege will remain an exposition hall after its roof is restored in accordance with historic analogues," Luzhkov said. He gave no restoration terms but said it would be done soon. In his words, the fire did not hit either walls or foundation. "It will boost the Manege reconstruction," the Mayor added. Manege caught fire on March 14 night. The fire was extinguished the next morning. Two fire-fighters have perished in fire.
