Presidential envoy in Russia's far eastern federal district wrapped up his official visit to North Korea
Presidential envoy in Russia's far eastern federal district Konstantin Pulikovsky wrapped up his official visit to North Korea and flew to Vladivostok on Wednesday. Pulikovsky passed to North Korean leader Kim Jong Il congratulations from Russian President Vladimir Putin on the 60th anniversary of Korea's liberation, and met with him and high-ranking officials. The parties discussed political and economic operation, paying special attention to trade and economic contacts. At the meeting with Kim Jong Il, Pulikovsky noted that trade turnover between Russia and North Korea does not exceed 150 million dollars a year, with the growth rates of bilateral trade considerably lower, compared with the growth rates of North Korea's trade with China, South Korea and the European Union. Russia and North Korea agreed to make more active joint efforts towards expanding the scope of trade and economic cooperation. Konstantin Pulikovsky and Kim Jong Il noted that they would give priority to regional cooperation, foremost with Siberian and far eastern regions
