Russian President Vladimir Putin said Chechnya's political and economic life had become more active
During his meeting with first Chechen president Akhmad Kadyrov's widow and son in his Bocharov Ruchei residence in Sochi Sunday, Russian President Vladimir Putin said Chechnya's political and economic life had become more active. The president said the processes in the republic followed the line determined by Akhmad Kadyrov. "I am pleased to notice not only that the political and economic life has become more active and that the plans we discussed with him [Akhmad Kadyrov] are being implemented, including the rehabilitation of housing, but also that political processes are developing between different political movements and forces," Putin told Ramzan Kadyrov, the Chechen deputy prime minister. Putin said Ramzan Kadyrov, who helps restore the republic's economy and supervises the law enforcement activity, did much to accelerate these processes. "It may be said that he took up the torch from his father," Putin said. A monument to Akhmad Kadyrov, who had been killed in a terrorist act in Grozny on May 9, 2004, was unveiled in the capital of Chechnya Saturday
