Moscow welcomes the U.S. approach to "constructively and positively developing Russia-U.S. relations"
Moscow welcomes the U.S. approach to "constructively and positively developing Russia-U.S. relations," Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said Friday. The minister, speaking to Russian newspaper Moskovskie Novosti, said he had recently held talks with U.S. Ambassador to Russia William Burns. "I told William Burns that we welcomed his speech before the Senate, in which he stressed the importance of Russia-U.S relations and the United States' need to constructively develop them, in economics, with an emphasis on energy security, in the war against terrorism, the spread of WMDs, conflict regulation, and in high technology, space research, etc. "The new ambassador's approach is reassuring. This is a person who does not see his post merely as a platform for PR or propaganda - he is a man of business," Lavrov said.
