Seven of Russia's tennis players at the US Open won their Day 2 matches at New York's Flashing Meadows National Tennis Center Tuesday
In the first round of the men's singles, Nikolai Davydenko, seeded sixth, gained an easy victory over Tomas Zib (Czech Republic) 6-2 6-0 6-4, and Dmitry Tursunov beat Marcos Baghdatis (Cyprus) 6-4 6-3 6-7 (7-9) 6-2. In women's singles sixth-seeded Yelena Dementyeva won her match against Lucie Safarova (Czech Republic) in two sets, 7-5 6-3. Anastasia Myskina (13th) beat Tamarine Tanasugarn (Thailand) 6-3 6-1, and Elena Likhovtseva (19th) won against Tathiana Garbin (Italy) 6-4 6-1. Anna Chakvetadze (29th) fought for a difficult win against Viktoriya Kutuzova (Ukraine) 6-3 3-6 7-5, and Evgenia Linetskaya edged out Nuria Llagostera Vives (Spain) 3-6 6-4 6-4.
