Vladimir Putin:"Not a single country in the world can fully guarantee the security of its citizens today"
Not a single country in the world can fully guarantee the security of its citizens today, President Vladimir Putin said Friday at a meeting with the residents of Beslan, who were affected by last September’s stunning hostage crisis in a local general school. “I must tell you right away not a single country can guarantee the security of its citizens these days fully and firmly,” he said. “This is not at all an exclusive feature of our country alone because all of you know about the horrendous tragedy in the U.S. in 2001.” “Security services and law enforcement agencies overlooked that horrible act, which took away thousands of lives, you know,” Putin said. “We’ve also seen the terrorist acts in Spain and in London.” “Even well-developed countries will a properly functioning economy and smoothly working secret services cannot oppose terrorist acts today. Taking part in the meeting is Taimuraz Mamsurov, the President of the Republic of North Ossetia where Beslan is located, as well as the residents of that town – Susanna Dudiyeva, Anneta Gadiyeva, Rita Sidakova, Rimma Torchinova, Mairbek Tuayev, Azamat Sabanov, and Viktor Yessiyev
