Viktor Yushchenko told his newly formed cabinet Wednesday to focus on increasing the nation's GDP and establish a dialogue with investors and businesses
Ukrainian President Viktor Yushchenko told his newly formed cabinet Wednesday to focus on increasing the nation's GDP and establish a dialogue with investors and businesses. "The government has gone through a difficult period in the past eight months. These [past] trends have to be thoroughly analyzed. However, it is certainly 'a yellow card'," Yushchenko said. The Ukrainian GDP fell by 1.6% in August-September - a trend that has to be reversed, Yushchenko said. Economic stability will be attainable in two or three months thanks to "unity and the apolitical character of the government team," he said. Yushchenko fired the cabinet led by Yuliya Tymoshenko on September 8 and appointed new Prime Minister Yuriy Yekhanurov September 22.
