Russian President Vladimir Putin and Tajik leader Emomali Rakhmonov began talks in the Kremlin
At the beginning of the meeting, Putin noted a balanced development of bilateral regions. "We have many plans in the political sphere, and in the fight against terrorism, drug trafficking and organized crime," the Russian president said. He also noted that the two states have many economic projects. Hopefully, all these tasks will be fulfilled. Russia is getting ready for it, Putin stated. For his part, Rakhmonov informed Putin about the implementation of the accords reached in the course of Putin's visit to Tajikistan last year. The construction of the Ragunskaya and Sanktudinskaya hydro power plants is underway. "The implementation of last year accords runs successfully. We have no problems or disagreements," Rakhmonov said. Trade turnover between the two countries amounted to 400 million dollars last year. In the first eight months of this year it totaled 300 million dollars. The Tajik president noted a high level of cooperation between the defense ministries of the two countries and the departments combating terrorism and drug trafficking. Speaking about the upcoming launching of the Day of Tajik culture in Russia, Rakhmonov said it would be held for the first time since 1941. "We'll show Tajikistan's achievements in the field of culture," the Tajik leader said. Rakhmonov also said "a good package of accords" will be signed at the summit of the Central Asia Cooperation Organization in St.Petersburg on Thursday
