Rescuers of the Russian Emergency Situations Ministry went to Pakistan on Sunday to help the Saturday earthquake cleanup
“An Il-76 cargo plane carrying rescuers and a task force of the Emergency Situations Ministry departed from the Ramenskoye airfield based in the Moscow region for Islamabad at 3:20 p.m. Moscow time,” a source in the ministry’s aviation service told Itar-Tass. Thirty servicemen of the Centrospas unit, four trained dogs and the ministry’s task force will help to clean up the damage, a source in the ministry press service said. They are carrying equipment, which allows their autonomous functioning for two weeks, and other instruments. Right upon their arrival in Islamabad, the group will do reconnoitering and learn their responsibilities. The ministry will also give humanitarian aid to Pakistan. Tents, blankets and bed linen will be supplied in the first turn. “A ministry plane carrying humanitarian aid will fly to Pakistan at 7:00 a.m. on Monday,” the press service said.
