The Duma committee for public health has suggested an increase of allocations for public health by 18 billion roubles in the draft budget for 2006
The committee prepared 12 amendments to the draft budget for its second reading, Tatiana Yakovleva, head of the committee, told Itar-Tass on Monday. According to her information, the biggest part of the sum – about 7.6 billion roubles -- should be spent on wages of the medical personnel of the first-aid service. She believes allocations for wages of the personnel of primary medical and obstetrical centres should be increased by 3.5 billion roubles. “It is this section of the public health system which should be supported as a matter of priority now, when the system is being reorganised,” Ms. Yakovleva said. Allocations for the repair of hospitals and polyclinics are planned to be increased by 1.7 billion roubles. “We believe allocations for the upkeep of patients in hospitals should be increased by one billion roubles, and a major part of that sum should be spent on the upkeep of convalescent children,” she continued. Aside from it, the committee suggests the increase of allocations for special food in hospitals for children, in some other hospitals and sanatoria to the sum of 230 million roubles. The 2006 draft budget provides for the allocation of 127 billion roubles for the public health system
