Representatives of the foreign students studying in Voronezh will meet with regional governor Vladimir Kulakov on Wednesday, to discuss their safety. A regional administration official assured the rally of some 200 foreigners in Voronezh central square on Tuesday that the meeting would certainly take place. The rally near the Town Hall was staged after the murder of a Peruvian student, the latest in a series of attacks on foreigners in the past few years. Participants in the rally said they would prepare a list of demands regarding their safety. In a separate rally in Voronezh on Tuesday staged by the youth movement Nashi (Ours), over 150 people from various cities of Russia expressed solidarity with foreigners. Nashi activists said they would urge governor Vladimir Kulakov to take measures to protect foreigners. There are more than 1,200 foreign students studying in Voronezh colleges. Two foreign students have been killed and another ten have been injured in attacks by youth groups in Voronezh in the past two years. Students from Angola, Rwanda, Guinea-Bissau and China became victims of such attacks this year. On Sunday, local youngsters attacked three foreign students with sticks and metal rods, killing one of them and seriously injuring the other two. The attackers hurt a Russian student, a resident of Voronezh, who was with the foreigners
