Russian railways announced Friday that its container shipments in the first nine months of 2005 grew 12.2% year-on-year
Russian railways (RZD), the 100% state-owned operator of the Russian railroad infrastructure and the country's dominant freight and passenger rail carrier, announced Friday that its container shipments in the first nine months of 2005 grew 12.2% year-on-year, reaching 15.3 million tons. Of this figure, international cargo handling grew 13.3% to 6.3 million tons and internal cargo traffic rose 11.3% to nine million tons for the same period, the company said in a press release.
