Authors of the U.N. Security Council resolution on Syria approved Russia’s proposal to depoliticise the document
Authors of the U.N. Security Council resolution on Syria approved Russia’s proposal to depoliticise the document, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said. Speaking at a session of the U.N. Security Council on Monday, Lavrov said authors of the U.N. Security Council resolution “approved Russia’s proposal to depoliticise the document and avoid unnecessary threats.” The minister said, “Russia will work on Syria to keep its pledges to cooperate with the independent commission. This issue was in the focus of the recent telephone conversation between Russian President Vladimir Putin and Syrian head of state Bashar al-Assad.” “The authors made maximum use of Russia’s amendments. Thus making it possible to reiterate the unity of the U.N. Security Council on an objective substantive basis,” Lavrov stressed.
