Russian President Vladimir Putin departs Tuesday on his first official visit to the Netherlands
He will visit Amsterdam and The Hague on November 1-2 and meet with members of the royal family, various government officials and businessmen. In Amsterdam, he will meet with prominent representatives of the Dutch business community at the Great Industrial Club to discuss the expansion of bilateral economic relations. He will also lay flowers at the national monument to the victims of World War II and visit Peter the Great's former residence in Zaandam. Putin will arrive in The Hague Tuesday night to attend a state banquet in his honor and meet with Dutch parliament members Wednesday morning. His Hague agenda also includes meetings with Dutch Prime Minister Jan Peter Balkenende and members of the UN International Court of Justice. The visit will conclude with an official farewell ceremony hosted by Queen Beatrix at the Noordeinde Palace.
